| I would like to try the mesh square. Let me know how to get the money to you. This morning I siphoned some of the yucky stuff off the bottom of the rotifer bucket with some airline tubing. It was gross. It also eventually plugged up the tubing. I did get most of it out though. How often do you do this? |

| I need a bit more detail of how you guys are raising these rotifers! When I did, I used DP bottles to start each new batch, then through away the bottle when it bloomed. So, I never cleaned 'em! |

| Mine are in a big 4-5 gallon bucket with a airstone in it. It has about 2-3 gallons of salt water in it with the rotifers. I have it sitting in my basement. I squirt some phytofeast in twice a day cause I got some at the wmas meeting. Bought some at half price and won some. I have been scooping out about a gallon bucket every other day or so and putting fresh made salt water in. When the bottom gets too disgusting looking I siphon it with some airline tubing. Maybe I need Rotifers for Dummies - but the Provo Library where I work doesn't have that book yet! |

I have been raising my rotifers in two 5.5g tanks. I wrote E and O on the front of the tanks to represnet Even and Odd days on the calendar. Then when I harvest for my clownfish fry I just look at the calendar and pull from the correct tank. I have had 700+ clownfish larva at one time so harvesting every other day gives the culture a little time to build itself back up plus you have a 2nd if one crashes. Dave |

kathy, just pm me your address and I will mail you a square of mesh. Also, why are you replacing a gallon every other day? I think you are going to way too much work. I replace water about every 6 weeks. And I feed them about every 3-4 days, depending on how fast they eat the paste. How long have you had a culture going? If you feed too much, that junk on the bottom will build up really fast. Barelycuda, what do you feed your rotifers? I can't imagine raising enough rotifers for as many clownfish as you have. I've never been able to successfully raise rotifers in a glass container - they always crash. Since I've moved to a plastic bucket, I almost can't kill them. Suzy, I can email you my 'book' on how to raise rotifers. Will you be able to read it? What format should I save it in? |

I can open adobe or word, whatever. Mac can open anything nowadays! Dave, you can get the culture to bloom in 2 days? Because you just harvest a certain percentage? How much percent wise? |

| When I am in harvesting mode I harvest about 40% of the water every other day. I have heard that you can harvest 50% daily but I have never been able to do that. I have heard Randy Reed talk about harvesting 50%daily but they have high density rotifer systems not the systems like we have. For food I use Reed Maricultures Rotifer Diet HD. The rotifer diet HD has nanno and tetraselmis which is supposed to increase rotifer reproduction. |

I split them into two, one is going strong, the other isn't! But, my papa isn't growing too big yet, so I think I still have time..... Famous last words, right? |
