| Wow! Those pics are amazing! Aren't they like the size of an ant? |

So Amie at this point what percentage of eggs do you think developed and what percentage were lost as a result of what you will tell us later? Those are great pictures. My Bangaii's have now broke into three separate groups or areas in my tank but occasionally all get together still. I think of the four that only one may be a male. I am planning on adding two more 10 gallon tanks to my system to use for the babies or something. My rotifer culture is doing well. It is kind of wait and see on the pods. |

Larry, The only real successful result I have had has been this last batch where 12 survived. I started out with about 24 eggs. I lost 6 around the day 17 mark and the other 6 just never developed - they were probably never fertilized. So that only gets me to about 50% survival. Suzy, you are right, they are about the size of those big red ants. And I just have a point and shoot type of camera so it's really hard to get a good picture of them. I end up taking 100's of pictures to get one that even semi-viewable. I can't wait until I have enough money for a good camera. |

Last, but not least, here are some things that I learned that hopefully will help someone else trying to do this process. 1) Day 5 is the absolute earliest I can strip the eggs from the male and not have the eggs deteriorate. There's got to be a way to solve this since they survive in the male's mouth, but I haven't figured it out yet. 2) To avoid having the eggs deteriorate, it is necessary to add formalyne-3 to the water at least every other day. I still think that the eggs could be suspended in the parent tank and the medication could be avoided, but I need to try it again. 3) On day 15, once the heads and tails pop out, the water flow needs to be slowed down significantly. If the water flow continues to keep them in 'heavy suspension' the eggs will turn white and die. Turn the water down just enough that the egg mass and the loose eggs will sit on the bottom but will slightly rotate once in a while. |

Hi Amie, Any updates on these.? I really would like to try raising these next I think. I have been following some of the MOFIB threads and like the Bangaii's. Are any of the changes you mentioned making a difference? Dave |

| Good news on the banggai front. A pair of babies that I raised last year are finally spawning and the male is carrying eggs. It sure has taken them forever. |
