Hey guys! I am getting more teeny, tiny seahorses! I had them years ago before I was really into growing live food, more of a dabbler at the time. But, since I've learned to grow copepods, I have not had them. So, when Amie told me she had a friend who was giving his away, I was really excited to try them again. I had forgotten how fun they are! But, when I got them, I was afraid they would not do well. I think they are quite few generations in, and they seem very weakened. I am thinking when we breed the same DNA too long, it loses strength? I know FW fish do this for a quite a few generations, but when I hit 6 with my full sized seahorses, I could not raise their fry, doing the same things that worked for previous generations. So, I am looking on Ebay last night for something cool to spend my Paypal moola on, and I found a guy selling dwarfs! I bid on them and won! I thought it was a great deal 'till I found how much shipping is! Anyway, there was an email this morning saying he was going to try to ship them today! I might be able o pick them up from the airport tomorrow! Yahoo! So, shall we wait for them to actually arrive, get pregnant and deliver to start saying dibs on fry babies? I've never done Ebay before! Is it always this fun? |

Yahoo! They are at the Miami airport! I told their new tankmates to get ready for them. They are pretty excited, I can tell! |

Do you acclimate them in a separate tank first for a while? Just to make sure they are healthy enough before you put them with the others? Did you get some type of guaranty or promise of live delivery? I worry about buying live stuff from people that do not live close. I think E-bay is pretty good cause if he sells a lot of stuff you can find out if there are any problems by reading the feedback. |

No, I will just put them in with the ones I have. Sooner or later, they all have to live together, because I am trying to increase my DNA pool. So it may as well be sooner. No guarantee, but the seller has emailed me 3 times already. He seems pretty honest. Plus, he sent them within hours of my order. So, an eventful trip to the airport. Google map sux for DHL airport! I first follow their map, then I went to the airport cargo. I finally had to ask at UPS how to get there, because there is a locked gate at the end of the street that UPS, FedEx and all the other cargo places are on. Turns out, you have to go to the other side of the airport! So, two hours later I am home. I locked them in the car..... My hubby is at Target. Good thing I can empty my bladder! |

He came home right away. He was expecting me to call, seeings how I called him 3 times already! They are cute and alive! One is very small with GBD, I don't think he will make it. But, two appear to be pregnant! Plus, they threw in two funky pipe fish as a "sample". That was cool, huh? I am not a big pipefish fan, though. They seem a bit snake like to me. But, I do have a few flatworms in my reef they can snick for me! |
