Ok, I had a Bday yesterday, and I had such a bummer day! I had ordered some more seahorses and they were coming in yesterday. They were coming on DHL and I had the tracking number. I watched them get to the DHL hub in Miami, to the plane leaving Miami, to Ohio, where they missed their connecting flight! The poor little things got to our DHL at 9:30, after the dorky placed closed at 9 pm! Poor little guys had to sit in the box, in the dark, hungry and tired at the airport. But, when they did finally get here, I got a few more freebies! I ordered 4 seahorses, plus a few more dwarfs and 2 pipefish, and some algae. I got 2 extra pipefish and a purple and a green gorgonian. So, I know have a few breeding pairs of seahorses and a few pairs of pipefish. I am still having trouble sexing the pipes, so I think I have more females than males. Wish me luck? I hope to be overwhelmed with fry soon! |

I got these from this guy: http://stores.ebay.com/Tropical-Island-Fish and I would completely recommend them to anyone. Very quick service, very responsive to my emails and questions, and the stock is really healthy. His name is Bill Samples and he sent samples with the order! They collect the stuff in Florida and ship overnight. If you order, tell im Suzy sent you? I probably won't place another order until I get these seahorses to next generation or two. So, that will be spring, when the weather is warm enough. I do not have any pairs to sell, yet! IF/when they start breeding, I won't sell them anyway. I will give them to appropriate homes, after the tank inspection and the adoptions forms are thoroughly scrutinized and the parent/s -to-be pass the adoption interview! |

That's hilarious. Maybe people should start the adoption process now. It sounds like it could be years to get through the acceptance process anyway, so by the time you actually have adults to sell, you might have a few candidates for new homes. :D |

I am not sure! I think I might just get another tank and keep them all! Would that be the coolest tank? Somewhere around 300 gallons filled with seahorses and pipes, seagrasses and bright colored algae! Thanks for the bday wish! And, thanks for the uber cool present! I have these guys in a nursery tank, teaching them to eat frozen. But, yesterday I decided to set up a tank for them just in case they get frisky! These fish have internal reproduction programs that are the bomb! I'd hate to have them try to spawn in only 8 inches. He will probably get a gas bubble. So, I needed a clip on light. I went to Home Depot and found the ultimate score! A 250 watt MH fixture for $8 bucks! I figure when these guys go to the main display, I can use this light on my new algae scrubber! $8 bucks! |

I'll get name and company when I get the tank done and the fish in. I think I am going to keep the pipes in there so I can wacth them better and see if they interact like seahorses do. I am falling in love with these fish! But, for now I can tease you with this: This light is blinding! And, it is not as yellow as I thought it would be. In fact, it is not yellow at all! |

Here it is in action. It does put off some heat, so it might not work in a closed cabinet where heat is an issue. In my cold Utah basement, it is all good! |
