I hope these guys make fry babies!

This pipe fish is the barred/dusky pipefish of the Atlantic/Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico & Florida Bay, Syngnathus floridae. I got them as free samples from a guy in Florida, and when I bought large seahorses, he gave me more! So, I have 5. One is eating frozen consistenly. I hope he tells the others how yummy frozen mysis is!

Not the most beautiful pipefish, but certainly very fun to watch and I think a good starter for me.

I think they are cute! When I picked up some ricordeas from snailson in Spanish Fork earlier in the year he had some really pretty ones. I think they were dragon pipefish. I would like to try sea horses or pipefish. But I am taking a trip to Florida around Thanksgiving to visit my sister and brother in law for a week and a half so I don't want to even think about it until after that. I will be worried about my daughter taking care of the tanks never mind something like that.

tell me about it i am going overseas for almost 2 months i'm scared enough just leaving my reef tanks with my wife....

Wow, I would worry about that. Can you divide out some of your more tender stuff and get it back when you are done? There's always a risk, I know, but at least your wife won't have as much to worry about.

I'm always willing to help if possible.

That's cool. I think I am going to order in some pipes tomorrow. I have been wanting to get some and they are finally on our suppliers list. They have the banded or alligator pipefish. I think I am going to get the banded.
