Hey, guys! I am really bummed about my dwarf seahorse fry. They are not living! So, I need to kick it up, I think. So, can we discuss enrichments? These fry are too small to eat the species of copepod I have at birth, but they can eat BBS, I think. They are not living long, a week at best so I wonder if I need to use the smaller sanfrancisco kind? But, do I really need to hatch them every 12 hours so I can get them just as they hatch? Or can an enriched food source be as good or better? What do you use for enrichment, if you enrich? What is your favorite? |

MfG Sylvio With the enrichment, we have discussed often in Germany and concluded that enrichment is not helpful until the later stages. Because too many fats are inside. Originally one makes more damage. If I have sensitive animals, I would use an enrichment with a Phytomix first. |

Sylvio, Is Phytomix a brand? Or just the concept of using phyto? Suzy, we need to figure out what you are doing vs. what I'm doing because mine seem to be doing pretty well right now. I am moving mine to a new tank and so I'm getting a better count and I have around 20 right now - mostly babies. The main thing that I can think of that you may not be doing is keeping phyto in the tank all the time. I don't keep a ton of it, my tank isn't green. But just enough to keep the tiggerpods and bbs alive and nutritious. I try and get my tiggerpods actively multiplying in the tank so I don't have to keep adding them. Then the babies can eat the baby pods off the glass. Maybe you should consider taking the tank off the big system for a few days, add some phyto and a ton of pods and let them get established. Then, once you added the tank back onto the main system, start adding 1-2 cups a day of live phyto. What do you think? |

Hi Meist mische ich die Mixe selbst. Isocrysis =DHA Grünalge =EPA Was eben gerade zur Verfügung steht. Ein guter Ersatz ist das DT´s http://www.coralsands.de/index.php?cat=c3_...s-Plankton.html Da es aber aus den USA importiert wird ist es hier sehr teuer. MfG Sylvio Usually I mix would mix even parts: Isocrysis = DHA green alga = EPA (Just what is available) A good replacement is DT´s It is however out of the USA, imported here it is very expensive. |

Sylvio, I never thought newborns could have too much fat. I would much rather use phyto. I can get a very concentrated paste of 6 species of algae here. Would it be best to feed food enriched (gut loaded) with just one of Ischychris in the morning and a green in the evening? Or feed the atremia both at the same time? Which green alga do you think is best? Amie, what are you feeding your adults? I am thinking I will stop the water input during the day, and have a slow flow drip during the night. Plus, I really wonder if great salt lake BBS really are bigger? Maybe my fry couldn't eat it? |
