| Make sure the ph is the same before you put the fish back in. Good luck. |

Sounds good! I really agree with Amie about water changes and skipping additives and test kits on a smaller tank. I really wish I could! But, for large tanks, it is physically impossible. But, I am not sure I would be brave enough to do 100%! I think I would try 40% weekly until things started to go the right direction, then 20% weekly. But, if you do 100%, you will know the balance is perfect! Which salt brand do you use? Reef Crystals are a bit higher in some elements so I would n't use it for a large water change. It's a great salt for weekly 10% ers, though,if your tank has lots of consumption going on. But, then you have to test again! I'd stick with IO. How old is your daughter? Toddlers love to imitate their parents, so maybe she adding something? |

:( the whole 7 i have in there maybe they are just burried way to much, and i watched my sand sifter star glide right over a patch of cyano and he didnt touch it... oh and i found a flame scallop, i nevere bought one and i havent gotten any new corals in the past few months. he is about the size of a quarter... and i made a suspended reef today. lol i was neck deep in the tanks today. |

I'm not sure a 100% water change could be done on a large system like yours, Suzy. If you ever had a problem, you would probably have to split your tanks up into sections. The 40% weekly and then 20% after that would work as well. When I do 100% water changes, it's a big deal, even though my tanks are only 45 gallons. It takes me several days to make sure the new SW is exactly the same temperature and ph as the tank is. If it's not identical, you could kill everything pretty fast. It takes several heaters and pumps to get set up for the process. It's not something I do often or take lightly. Plus, it takes 2 people to pull it off in order to do it fast enough. You want to take 90% of the water out, then add 10% back quickly so you have doubled the amount of water in the tank to 20%. After that, you take out 50% of that water, add put the same about back in again and do that 4 times. Then add the remainder of the water back into the tank. It's not an exact 100%, but it comes to 99.375% if you half that bottom 10% four times. I guess you could keep going 2 more times and get it to 99.84375%, but 99.375% was close enough for me. I never leave the fish flopping on the bottom line Calfo says he does. |

| Well, I have at least one horsecrab because there is always one that comes out when I put food in. But I never see more than one at a time. It's amazing how fast it's growing. I can see eyes now....cute little guy. |
