Ok so here are some pictures of my build thread. I got this tank used from Crystal and took it straight to the shop for some cleaning and work. Lets just say that you have a new Acrylic master in your midst.... ;) :) I buffed out almost all of the scratches on the inside, and will do the outside in a few weeks after things settle down a little bit. Also as most of you know I do cabinets as a profession. "Which in the past has been my excuse for not getting the hood or stands finished. This time there is no excuse, and they are drying in the shop as I type this. I did cut a corner by doing slab doors for now, but will add raised panel doors in the near future. Well on with the good part, Pictures: As you can see the camera would focus on the scratches in the first 3 pictures, and they would ALL catch your fingernail. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Here is after buffing out the scratches and from the same distance trying to find the same angle where the scratches used to be: Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image It took me FOUR times longer to figure out how to remove the scratches on my 'test side' (6 square feet) than it did to do the other 14 square feet. |

Ok, and now some of the cool pictures: here is after getting the tank setup, as you can see I still need to position a lot of the corals in their new 'spots'. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image |

WOW! That is already gorgeous! Strong work! I have been avoiding acrylic tanks for ever but you are making me consider them a good option. Lighter weight and the scratches can be buffed out. My glass reef tank has a big scratch right at my eye level, first thing my eye focuses on..... |

Ok, the doors for the bottom are drying at the shop. but will be on the tank tonight. So the stand is almost done, but I still need to add the fancy trim work around it. Sub and crown mouldings, base moulding, and a trim around the top of the stand to really make it stand out. Also the way it is built, the two sides of the stand come off if necessary, but look at how big those doors are......no real need to take them off. I also need to add the compression hinges so that the doors on the hood stay up when you work on it. Then it will be done. Posted Image Posted Image |

Compression hinges? Would that work with my set up? This looks really sweet already. I can't wait to see it with wood! |

Here are some pictures from last night. Things are starting to find their places. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image 90 gallon sump that takes up half of the space under the stand Posted Image I will be doing a frag tank in the top of this side with a 150 watt mh to help grow out corals. It will be plumbed to the main system, from the 1 inch line you see pointed straight out, then overflow into the sump. It will be on a stand with space under it for fish stuff. Posted Image |
