Guys, a store I visited today had a sale on cocoworms. $20 bucks! I was thinking since I have an abundant supply of live phyto, I could keep one alive. Then as I was watching it expand as it engourged itself on food (it probably hasn't eaten for weeks?), I was thinking how they spawn. Could they spawn like bristle worms or spaggetti worms? If you have more than one, and each has an abundant suppply of food, could they reproduce like the other worms we have in our tanks? So, smarty pants advanced aquarists, do worms have male and female genders? How many do I have to buy to try this endeavor? |

Wait. I answered my own question. Check this childrens site that is first on my google search: http://www.animalcorner.co.uk/insects/worms/worm_reproduction.html Could it be as easy as getting two, and feeding them well? |

Wow, an x-rated children's site. Are coco worms the pretty pink ones inside the white shells? If so, where are they $20? Those usually cost around $40-$50. I'd love to get 1-2 of them. |

Yes, pink but the shell is more of a tube. I will only tell you if you promise not to buy them all? I just need one more, I think.... Bird World! |

I am going to expand the mission of this tank. Besides the worms, I am going to add all the other funky inverts I can find! Hopefully, only herbivores just in case some one co-operates and gives up some spawnage.... I ordered from Florida last week, so I asked him to throw in some funky stuff. He sent 3 limpets, which I had a species of small ones in my tanks already. But, these are big, like the footprint of an astrea snail! Andy from the LPA warned me to watch out for their cousins: chitons? (I think) because they can actually etch glass! I also got a few really funky snails. One has a covering like a tiger cowry, but is really smaller. Plus, it's mantle covering is really cool. It is like a polyester pattern from the 60's! Another has red flesh, and it has a tongue that sticks out the front. It is really a probiscus, but I am not sure how to spell probiscus, but I am ok with tongue! Posted Image Posted Image I also went to a local fish store, and got 3 of every type of snail they had. I am not that patient, so I got out my spy glass to see what is growing so far, after less than a week. All the hydroids are gone! There is a bazillion little worms, pods, crawly things, nematodes, ect. I even saw a little nudibranch floating around. Looked like a lettuce and must came in as a hitchhiker on a snail. I think this might end up being my favorite tank! |
