Hey, Guys! I have refused for years to grow rotifers, for personal reasons that I don't need to expand on here (insert roll eyes icon here). But, I now feel I need to try. Discussing my fry babies nutrition makes me think that they might be a good source of nutrition if they are gut loaded with a strong alga. So, I give in to them! Tell me your easiest way to grow copious amounts? I got some from Amie, and was really busy that week, so I just added a bit of live phyto to them and set them on a shelve. She told me to divide them but I was so busy I thought I could wait. Wrong! The green water just got greener! Are they gone for good? |

If the green water got greener, then they died. But they would have laid cysts. Just pour off 1/2, or even 3/4 of the water (try really hard not to disturb the bottom of the container when you do this). Add new salt water up to the top of the container and stir it up well so it is a light green again. Put an rigid airline all the way down to the bottom so the cysts will get stirred up a bit. Take them out of direct light and you should have rotifers in a week. If you don't want to wait, come up here and I'll give you some more. I won't even bug you about finally giving in to rotifers. (insert winking icon here). |

| Thanks! Do you think it was the lighting that did 'em in? |

| I think it was the lack of love that did them in. You really haven't been very nice to rotifers in the past, maybe they sensed the hatred in your voice. |

Uh oh. I cussed at 'em last night for not acting right.... So, the pods are doing well! There goes my theory of the rots out competing the pods! |

| Yep, I've tried to tell ya...if there's enough food, they all survive. I haven't had any problem growing them together except that they grow so fast that I have to split the culture more often. The rotifers are usually the ones that die off first if they get overcrowded. |

| So, maybe if I had split them like you said when you said, they would have survived?! |
