Clown Breeding; False Perculas are laying eggs!

My Perculas are laying eggs! I noticed the clutch about 3 days ago and they hatched last night. I was not prepared to raise them, so all were gobbled up over night. I'm hoping I can be ready for the next batch. I've heard the critical step is raising rotifers, so I'll be going down to BSD today to buy the Cyst. I've had mild luck with cyst in the past - I can usually keep them alive for about 1 week. I don't know what I'm missing on that 7th day - I think it has something to do with the amount (or lack there of) food I am giving them each day. It seems the water is green, but needs to go more and more green as the days go by. I used a clear container, which might be the problem, but not 100% sure.

I breifly looked online for a "Raising Clown eggs" guide, but I couldn't find anything. If anyone has some advise for me, it would be super sweet if you post a link or any personal information you have.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I have 8 buckets of live rotifers if you need some. Is there another batch of eggs laid?

BSD has a document on how to raise rotifers...I think. ;) But I would be glad to talk you through it. Hatching them from cysts is a piece-a-cake, it only takes 24 hours. The most important thing is the food. You need to get nannochloropsis paste without glycerin. Tim, at BSD, knows what you need. Just get a small bottle, it will last a long time.

They should be laying again in the next few days. I think it's 3 weeks between cycles, but I have not measured it yet. I have hatched rotifers and kept them alive for about 7 days, but they always die. I haven't tried again because I've been super busy, but I better get them going soon!

Thanks for the help.

Rotifers are super easy, aeration and green tinged water and they go crazy. Good luck with the next batch of clowns.

Bill, we defintely need to talk about rotifers. If you haven't been able to keep them for more than 7 days, you are probably messing with them too much. They really are easy and do better when you just leave them alone. I can get you set up and going in no time if you would like my help.
