Hey, Utah Locals! Another club is opening their doors! Utah Marine Aquarium Club. I wish them the best of luck! I am not sure about the procreation forum yet, but I think it is a fun addition to Utahs needs. Thanks for adding it! |

Same here...Utah altough it's landlocked has coral reefs ...ask Amie..I know where it's at. A grand club meeeting sounds like a great event eventually. I wonder where the members came from? Is it a total spinoff of members from our first club...WMAS? The more the merrier! Welcome..more diversity...(Corals - Wmas) (Breeders and dabblers in the other life forms - Marine Aquarium Co-op) it's all good and it's all for the hobby that we love. |

Some of the members came from here. When we left WMAS officially, some others did at the same time. We had a forum where everyone went on and on about WMAS but eventually, we wanted to move on. We deleted that forum and some people never posted again, others just sporactically. One guy would even post empty threads, I never did figure out what that was about! But, I have mixed feelings about this new club. Mostly, this is a good thing. The people who want to buy a box of corals and sell them can, and I don't have to have those crazy open houses anymore! I had all the bother, they made all the money! Now, I can just have a party once in a while and make it fun for me and the other true breeders. A little pizza, a lot of fish nerd talk, it's good! But, I do not see me joining. $500 bucks to pay to their sponsors seems a little steep to me, and I am not sure where the money is going. The site says some goes for web services? Amie and I pay a little out of pocket but we never considered charging for it. I am not sure about that part. Maybe one of them will come here to discuss some of the questions. Any takers? I promise we will be neutral and open minded.... |

Uh oh. Amie said my post came out "accusatory". I have known this woman long enough to know she means a different word but is too nice to say it! She means a word that starts with b, ends with y, and has an itch in the middle! So, I am so sorry if it came out that way. Really, our 2 clubs could not be more different! Utmas is renting a booth in a trade show, we are talking about Nudi sex! I will let this thread die, and if you want to tell me anything, you can shoot me a pm. Really, I easily spend more than $500 bucks a year, I just can't see how I would do that with the sponsors. I do buy an occasional T shirt at the LPA, and I have had a pet bergia before. I do buy occasional frags from Reef Kingdom when Dave is in my basement. I just don't see how this works, for me. That being said, I could be one of your best customers if I knew what in the heckola was going on! That being said, we need to get back to what is important! My nudis! When will the ribbon come? Please accept my apology. I really do wish you the best of luck. You have a much needed niche to fill! |

Thru the thick and the thin...rain sleet and shine..I am a breeder and a dabbler in the unknown. We are friends because of our intrests. A club is only a meeting place for our passions, the realm of the salt (water). Wether it be fish,corals,algeas....nudies...rock and substrates we use for our filtrations...it's all good, our work and experimentation is never done. My hats of to Suzy and Amie for their dedication an area of our hobby that has yet to be conquered by hobbiests. We share with eachother our accomplisments and our tribulations on this site for benefit of all the creatures we love. I love this place. Thankyou for having me as a member. Bob |

To answer your question Suzy, Spending the $500, over the 12 month period, applies to any sponsor of utmas . As long as there is a banner on the site. For example, when you click through the marine depot banners or ads on the utmas site, the club gets 8% of your purchase. Then you as a member can actually see in the quarterly statements where your money is going. Its pretty cool, if you ask me, knowing and having a say where the club money is spent. So far, there is not much $ to talk about since the club is just starting out and most of the sponsors are paying in donations that must be raffled off to create cash. But every donation will be logged and accounted for. Suzy that was a great question, if you have any more feel free to ask. ps. just doing water changes has me spending close to $500. |
