Velvet Nudibranchs?

I have flatworms in my 37g tank :$

I have added a spotted Mandarin in the hopes that he would take a liking to the flatworms; so far, the Mandarin is picking off pods left and right - but no flatworms.

I have a large (3") 6-Line Wrasse in my 225, but I don't want the hassle of trying to catch it and worry about putting it into a tank as small as the 37.

So, next option for me would be 1 or 2 Velvet Nudis...

Anybody happen to have any of these locally?

Hey, I've got some nudi action going on, so speak for yourself. I've got about 200 nudis right now, all munching away because I just fed them their dinner for the night.

Suzy, I meant to post earlier that my nudis don't go up on the sides of the container unless they can't find food or they want to lay eggs. That doesn't mean that that is what yours are doing, but being on the glass isn't necessarily a good thing. When I see berghias on the glass of an aquarium I'm trying to clean out, that means it's time to move them to a new container.

Maybe they can smell their food and if it's not in the tank, they don't go looking for it because they can't smell it.

So someone catch me up to date on all these nudibranchs. How many different kinds are there? And how many are good to keep around in our reefs? Do you have to supplement feed them or they will die? Which ones eat what?

I do believe I read somewhere that nudibranchs are the largest (genus? species?) group of ocean critters there is. Maybe! There are quite a few. Some are reef safe, but it is really difficult to get the food they need. So, we really should not buy them. I did on a stupid impulse, thinking maybe they would eat my copious amount of sponge. It really is getting out of hand...

BTW, Amie has the coolest ones, and has taught many people how to culture them. I believe Crystal got her start from Amie, and now she is running an entire business off it!

Thanks, Amie. It's people like you who make the hobby better for everyone!

Has anyone made a list of which kinds eat what? That would be great if they were the garbage disposal of our reef tanks and only ate the bad stuff. We could get a few and pass them around from tank to tank depending on what problems we had. The berghias for one problem and the velvets for another and the lettuce for another. I have heard though that some eat corals is that true?
