I go for shrimp every fall! Last year, a tourist asked me how I cook them!

I have a huge net ducktaped to a piece o' PVC. That way, I don't have to get too close to the spiders! Tell me, with all the birds out there, how do the spiders get as big as beagles?

I am getting flustered with this clutch. So much time involved. Yesterday, I cleaned the nursery, there were 15 left. They were really weak at sundown. I doubt they will survive the night.

I have a question? I know you can collect buckets of shrimp late summer and fall. But collecting eggs off the beach is new to me. Is there a special time of the year to do this and can this be done. Anywhere on the lake and do they pile up along the shore. I usually net them near the saltair boat docks.

The brine shrimp bare live during warm months but when it starts to get cold, as a survival thing, they start to lay cysts and then they die. The cysts pile up on the shores, I believe. If you really wanted to collect them, you should ask Tim at BSD about it - I'm sure he would be more than happy to tell you when to collect and where.

The biggest problem with collecting them is that they are wet and icky. You should clean them. You might want to ask him about that as well. I asked him once about it and he went into all the stuff that needs to be done. My brain kind of shut off at that point.

I am a bit nervous about the mercury in our lake's eggs. I use San Francisco Bay ones, just in case.

Suzy, how are those horses doing?

I would like to see that auto feeder.

My understanding is that it is the adult brine that carry the mercury(I still fed the adult to discus for years and noticed no ill effects).

Almost any beech can have eggs. Most of the reliable spots are now hunted hard by the brine shrimp companies. There are still times I go out and my friend collects buckets full(he has a permit for mass collection).

They are not that hard to wash. When you use as many as I do it saves a ton of money.

This clutch was too fragile... I hope I get another try.

I will get some pics of the feeder tomorrow. I get to work today!

What exactly do you do to wash them? And how do you store them?
