New Pods ... arrive on Thursday

I'm getting new copepods! I don't know what kind they are, I'll let you know when I get them. They are smaller than tiggerpods though. Someone is shipping them to me to see if I can figure out how to get them to reproduce faster than he can. He says that they have about a 6 week turnaround. Hopefully, there's something that will speed them up so they can be worth raising. I think this guy has paid to have them analyzed for their nutritional value, I'll have to ask for that information as well.

YES! I just found out that I'm getting A. Tonsa, Isochrysis and another copepod that hangs out in the water column. Apparently the A. Tonsa lives on Iso, NOT tetraselmis. I will hopefully get better instructions about the A. Tonsa before I have a chance to kill them off.

I'm not sure what I did for this guy, but he's being really nice to me right now. I'd love to fly out to Chicago and see his phyto business.

Amie you are famous, and everyone knows you have a green thumb (?) when it comes down to raising copepods and things. Now wouldn't it cool if you could do something that no one else can? I wish you luck with these and keep us posted.

Sweet! So if they eat iso, do they eat iso paste? I so need these pods to grow!

I wonder if the culture we had before laid cysts? I still have it!

Well, I certainly got a surprize today that totally blew me away. First of all, let me just say that I have met some of the most amazing people in this hobby. Alot of them have been local, but quite a few have been spread all over the world. It's funny how people outside of the hobby can think a person is crazy for being so involved with 'fish', sometimes I think I'm crazy as well. But then I meet amazing people that I could have never met anywhere else, and know that it's not just the fish that keep me in the hobby.

I got the package today from the guy that said he was sending me a. tonsa. Instead of finding pods, he had sent me a dozen Dunkin' Donuts using 2-day delivery. I had said in passing how much I had loved Dunkin' Donuts and how my family would get them once a year on 4th of July when I was growing up. We don't have them here, as you probably know. I had helped him with his site and he wanted to thank me for my help.

In the past, I have gotten hung up on some of the bad people I have met in this hobby and the things that they have been willing to do to get ahead. But this really made me stop and think of all of the amazing people I have met along the way as well. I think it's probably safe to say that anyone reading this in the next day or two, that has logged in with a username, is one of those people.

I guess the real question is..when are the pods coming? I'm pretty sure they got shipped today. I'll keep you posted.

There's somebody on KSL looking for pods for his seahorses:

I figure with 'pods' and 'seahorses' in the same ad I had to put it up on here to make both of you ladies happy. ;)

P.S. - Dunkin Donuts are the BEST! I miss them from NY

Thanks Bob, I'll send a message to the person on ksl. I'm actually heading up to Ogden tomorrow. Maybe I can take them some when I'm up there.

I wonder why Utah doesn't have Dunkin' Donuts? I've seen commercials for them. Texas had them, but not a ton of stores. We had to drive about 10 miles to get to one. Chicago seems to have them on every street corner.
