Hey, guys! I have my feeding station gong great now, and a small area of tanks for either nurseries or broodstock. I am designing a wall o' tanks now, in my brain mostly for broodstock. i really want to go like gangbusters this fall. So, I am collecting broodstock now. I think I know some of the species I want to try, but I am also just going to experiment with a few others. Here is a list so far: These I have: Yellow Watchman gobies (Cryptocentrus cinctus), AKA Yellow Shrimp gobies I am pretty sure these are mated. They have shared the same hole forever. I have never seen eggs but I am going to change that situation today! H erectus/ The liined Seahorse I have been trying to get these guys to mate forever, having one very flambouyant gay male is not helping. The females are still small, and they are CB but the males are WC. Bangaii Cardinals/Pterapogon kauderni I read an article on mouth broooders in Coral Magazine over the weekend, and this I have to see firsthand! Lucky, while picking p fish food this morning, I found 3 wc specimens that look good. We'll see if they pair up. Coral Catfish/Plotosus lineatus I thought this species was in the mag I read, and then stumbled on 2 that look to be mated! Sweet! I still need to find: A male greenspot mandarin A male scooter blenny A few more yellow headed jawfish And, I am going to order some more dwarf seahorses from Florida. Wish me luck? |

| wow, that's quite a list. Dwarf seahorses, huh? I don't think I could do those again...too much work. Maybe if I had an automatic feeder set up for them. |

I figure as long as I have to grow food for everything else, I might as well try these one more time! I might have to order soon, though. I know they can only be collected at certain times of the year. So, I am lucking at the local fish stores! Today I found: Doryrhamphus dactyliophorus/Banded pipefish There were 2 swimming very close to each other. With these tiny slender species, it is really hard to tell gender. I was at the LPA today, and they had all 3 of theirs in the tank (usually the male is in the back). The only difference I could see with their specimens was the male had eggs on his belly! But, these 2 at the LFS were not trying to kill each other, so I took a chance. If they can be together without showing aggression, I can get a few more. They are cool! Synchiropus stellatus/Red Scooter Blenny. Ditto above. We never could get one of the 3 they had to show his/her dorsal fin, so I took a chance and got one of the females and the unknown one. But, like above, they were not being aggressive to each other so I hope I can have a few in the same tank. We'll see! Edited by Suzy, Apr 27 2010, 12:56:15 PM.
