Their yolksacs are definitely shrinking, but they are still in place, so that's good. I am almost inclined to tell you to let this batch go and wait for the next batch, however. Your temperature really need to be brought up to at least 80 in order for them to hatch in the normal time frame. If the water is too cold, they can take several extra days before hatching and sometimes the fry just aren't as viable as they could have been. So you end up really struggling to keep them alive, because they are weak, and things just don't go as well and you get discouraged. If you wait, warm the tank up a few degrees, get your rotifers going well, then you will be really ready for them in 2 weeks. Plus, the first batch of babies is never as strong as the following clutches. |

I know most would say I should pass on this batch(As my clowns haven't laid eggs in a while...) but I guess I just have too much time on my hands to mess around with... if none of them make it I wont be discouraged.... its just practice for the next round... even if just a couple make it Id be happy I've turned my water up to 80 and still waiting for these little guys =) |

Well dang it... I woke up today to see that almost all had hatched last night (I did stay up for about 2 hours checking ever 30 mins or so, then finally turned the pump back on) anyway there was maybe still 30 attached to the rock today... and I stayed up tonight I caught about 20 out of those 30 so will see how it goes... also when I was flash lighting my cleaner shrimp dashed up into the light and shook a few hundred babies off of its self... so now I have a mix of cleaner shrimp and clown fish hopefully that doesn't cause a problem |

I don't think the shrimp larvae would be a problem, as long as you watch your ammonia level. But, if they eat the same food the clowns do, you might get a snack for the clowns as they grow! So you have some babies to grow! Sweet! Are they in a nursery tank? Lots of yummy, nutritious food for 'em? |

That's awesome that you got shrimp as well as the clowns. Don't worry about not getting them all, they will do better next time, now that the temperature is a little warmer. The shrimp won't eat the clowns, they are too big. You will need to watch the bottom of the tank and make sure you vaccuum off any dead shrimp or clown babies to reduce ammonia, as Suzy mentioned. The shrimp will die within about 5 days because they won't have the right food to eat. |

they eat freshly hatched hufa-enriched brine shrimp at least twice a day, so you have to start a new batch of them, twice a day so you have them hatching....twice a day, if that makes any sense. You can keep them in the refrigerator after they hatch and that will slow their growth down, but probably just a day or two. Does that mean that the clowns didn't make it? |
