Guys! The sweetest thing happened today! Last week a woman called me from the U of U. She got my name from one of the local fish stores, and said they had told her I had a planted tank. She is doing an artistic display at The Leonardo about algae. Did anyone see Body World? That is The Leonardo, behind the Salt Lake Library. Anyway, I showed her what I have and sent her home with about 30 species of algae. She is going to make electron microscope photos of them for a display they are designing. She thinks it will take a year to set up. They got the idea from The World Symposium on Algae, held in San Diego last year. There is a lot of interest in algae because it is the new biofuel of the future! She will get us free tickets to the display! Plus, a sneak preview with the artist! Sweet, huh? |

| That is so cool. Will you get some other type of recognition also? It would also be cool if she gave you slides of what you gave her so you could show everyone what you have. Let us know when this happens so we can go. |

| Suzy, that's so awesome! You had her sign some kind of a contract so she uses your name, right? |

No, I will not get credit. I might not even know which algae are mine! I think I will be able to recognize them if they label the species, because I am pretty sure she won't find some of these in this area. But, when I walk through the display, I will know they are mine! And, even if they are not mine, I can think they are! I am going to ask her for pics! I can blow them up and put them up in the fish room! I do not think they will look anything like what is in my tank. The microscope they will be using to take the prints is one they have to wait for certain days to use, and make an appointment to use it. What I would really love would be to see the microscope! |
